What is the International Encyclopedia of Photographers ?
for you: who work in the world of communication and image, the Encyclopedia is an indispensable reference tool, combining photographers as well as artists who use photography, inventors and researchers, from the invention of photography in 1839 until today.
the idea: to assemble as an online database our International Encyclopedia of Photographers, published in print in 1985 and as a CD ROM in 1997, which will be updated daily.
the content: we work on more than 80,000 files, a selection of 40,000 names is actually online (this number increases as the files are being completed). Access to the index is free. To see the detailed biographies, list of exhibitions, bibliographies and access the research module, a fee must be paid.
photographers: if you are listed in the index, you can ask us for the access code to your page (follow the link 'is this you?' at the bottom of the page presenting the photographer). You can freely complete your data in the encyclopedia, as well as use this page to link to your website, email, etc.
new photographers: for inclusion in our encyclopedia, you must account for a personal exhibition in a recognized institution, renowned gallery, or publication of a monograph. Ask your gallery owner to register you or register using the Register menu.
subscription: you can subscribe in the Subscribe section to gain full access to the Pro Version of the Encyclopedia
